Euclidean Sequencer presents itself as an alternative version of the traditional step sequencer that has gained popularity within the modular music production community. The plugin is inspired by Euclidean rhythms, a concept developed by computer scientist Godfried Toussaint in 2004, rooted in Greek mathematician Euclid’s algorithm. This approach involves distributing musical hits evenly across predefined time divisions using the greatest common divisor of two numbers.

In practical terms, using Euclidean Sequencer is more straightforward than one might initially assume, offering a user-friendly method to automatically generate intricate musical sequences without requiring prior in-depth knowledge of its inner workings.

Euclidean Sequencer is designed as an AUv3 plugin compatible with various host applications supporting flexible MIDI routing capabilities.

The plugin allows users to create up to four distinct Euclidean rhythm parts, referred to as bands A-D, color-coded as RED, ORANGE, GREEN, and CYAN. These bands collectively form a pattern, enabling the creation of up to 16 unique patterns per musical composition.

With each band capable of defining its note sequence and output MIDI channel, users can craft sophisticated rhythmic patterns that can simultaneously drive four separate instruments. Furthermore, seamless pattern transitions facilitate the creation of extended evolving sequences. Users can align patterns with a specific key, scale, or defined chord.

Euclidean Sequencer supports MIDI input for automatically adjusting note sequences to match the chords being played at any given moment.
